New Leave Terms for Officers
Domiciled in India and Pakistan
With effect from 1st January, 1948, officers in the Police Force and Prisons Department domiciled in India and Pakistan and other officers similarly domiciled who were hitherto eligible for leave and passage privileges to India will be eligible for free passage to Calcutta after every five years' resident service and for leave at the rate of two days' leave for every fifteen days' resident service until they attain the age of 40 and have completed 10 years' service. Thereafter such officers will be eligible for free passages after every four years' resident service and leave at the rate of one day's leave for every six days' resident service.

The above leave rates are designed to allow for travelling time and leave, therefore, commences from the date
of embarkation.
3.
Railway fares at the appropriate class for officers and their families will continue to be paid in respect of tho journey by the most direct route from Calcutta to the destination in India or Pakistan.

General Order 199 (2) and (3) is amended by the deletion of the words "not exceeding in cost Rupees 40 for each single full faro" and "not exceeding in cost Rupees 28 for each single full fare" respectively.
5. This circular must be read in conjunction with Routine Circular No.12 of 1948 and General Orders 188 and 199 which will be issued in revised form in due course.
